13 Non-Toxic Cleaning Brands I Swear By (And Actually Use)

Cleaning your home shouldn’t mean exposing yourself or your family to harsh chemicals. Unfortunately, many conventional cleaning products are loaded with synthetic fragrances, irritants, and preservatives that can wreak havoc on your health.
According to a recent 20-year study, participants who regularly cleaned with conventional cleaners had impaired lung function equivalent to smoking a pack of cigarettes (20 cigarettes) a day. That’s wild!!
When I first read that study I was shocked. Never in a million years did I imagine that the cleaning products I was using at home had that significant of an impact on my health, but they do.
My Top 5 Favourite Non Toxic Cleaning Brands
So, I did my research and made the swap to safer cleaning products. Over the last several years I’ve tested out many, many products and non-toxic cleaning brands to find the best. So, here are my top favourite toxin-free cleaning brands with products that are made from safe ingredients and truly clean well.

1. Branch Basics
Branch Basics is sort of the queen-bee of non-toxic cleaning products. And rightfully so. They’re also my favourite brand!
Their products are probably the cleanest (and safest) cleaning products on the market. Formulated exclusively with plant and mineral-based ingredients and free from artificial fragrances, dyes, and preservatives.
I’ve used their concentrate and oxygen boost for years now, and they’re both amazing! Excellent cleaning power without any harmful chemicals. You can essentially clean your whole home using these two products alone.

Koala Eco is an Australian brand with a similar origin story to Branch Basics.
Two parents who committed to eliminating harmful chemicals from their home. The went on to create effective cleaning products made exclusively from safe, natural ingredients.
They offer a whole line of natural cleaning products that are scented with quality Australian essential oils. They’re a cult-favourite in many healthy homes!

Truly Free is another popular toxin-free cleaning brand. I’ve tested many of their products and I would definitely recommend them.
Truly Free has built its reputation on 100% plant-based formulas that are free from harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrances, and dyes. All of their products come as concentrates, helping eliminate tons of single-use packaging!

4. Thieves by Young Living
I’m sure you’ve heard of Thieves by Young Living before, it’s pretty popular amongst the wellness community.
All of their cleaning product formulas are 100% natural, plant-based and made without parabens, formaldehyde, triclosan, petroleum, DEA, MEA, PEG, synthetic fragrances and dyes.
I am a huge fan of their cleaning concentrate – quite frankly I haven’t been able to find another like it. It cleans well, doesn’t leave streaks, and has a warm and cozy essential oil scent. It is on the pricier side but because you only need a small amount of concentrate per bottle, it lasts a fairly long time.
I also love their laundry detergent! It’s all natural, concentrated, and leaves clothes fresh and clean. Their laundry detergent also has their signature ‘Thieves’ scent. The only reason I don’t use it anymore is because it is quite pricey.

Dr. Bronner’s is a classic! Pure Castile soap that can be used for many different natural cleaning recipes. Their multi-purpose soap is made with organic oils and is free from synthetic chemicals or fragrances.

I exclusively use their laundry detergent! Their products are more affordable than most natural cleaning brands, available on Amazon, and clean well. They’ve got dozens of cleaning products for every cleaning need.
They’ve got a ‘home essentials’ line with products exclusively scented with essential oils, which I prefer. Their other cleaning products are also EWG verified but only list the scent as ‘fragrance’ making it tough to determine what it’s actually made from.

Guests on Earth is a newer brand I’ve come across. They’re a Canadian brand committed to creating cleaning products with no nasties.
Their products come as concentrates or bulk refills to avoid wasteful packaging.
I love their ingredient transparency so you can see why each ingredient was used and what their origin is.
